You did it! You successfully decluttered a space, but now you’re probably wondering where to take your donations. Most of our clients feel much better about letting items go when they know they are going to a good home. That is why we have compiled a handy list of local places you can donate. There are places that specifically take pet items, art/craft supplies, old TVs, paint, food and more.
You may already know about your local goodwill or arc thrift store, and there are many around the city that are pretty convenient, but we wanted to share some of the not so well known places (This list is all about Colorado Springs, we are also curating a list for Pueblo, so stay tuned!)
Here we are offering a list of some places you can feel good about taking your donations:

Home Organization Tips
After you’ve sorted and decluttered your spaces, and dispersed your donations, it’s time to store them in a way that makes sense for you, here’s a few tips:
- Categorize Items: Group like items together. You can be very detailed with this, and in some cases it makes sense to. For example: Instead of just having one big toy bin, consider having a separate bin for legos, blocks, magnetiles, etc. This makes it easier to find what you need and helps with maintenance.
- Use Storage Solutions: Invest in storage solutions like bins, baskets, and shelves to keep items neatly contained. Labeling containers can also help you stay organized.
- Label: Labeling is a great way to make sure everyone in the space knows exactly where things go. Think of your containers like boundaries. Legos belong in this bin, and nowhere else. Or, chips belong in this bin and nowhere else.
- Implement Routines: Find what works for you to maintain. This could be a simple 5 minute cleanup 3 times a day, or maybe an hour or two each week. What makes the most sense for you and your family? And, give yourself grace if you miss a scheduled routine. Guilt does not support us to move forward, in fact it often has the opposite discouraging affect and causes our systems to fall apart.
- Involve Your Kids: Teach your children the importance of organization by involving them in the process. Assign age-appropriate tasks and make it a fun activity for the whole family and see the reward of your efforts over time as they begin to help you maintain order in their spaces.
